THF Rebounds at the Rock in the AHDRA Carolina Spring Nitro Nationals with a Runner-Up Finish!

DEI Sponsored Team Half FastMay 3-6, 2012 – When we left the Wheels Through Time Museum in Maggie Valley, North Carolina on Thursday afternoon to start our trek down to Rockingham we were really looking forward to getting to the track that night to wait in line.

The Wrenching Spirits had other plans.

Shortly after leaving Maggie Valley our “new” fan belt began to have slipping issues.  Adjusting the fan belt helped for very short periods of time.  The issues became more than problematic as we got off the highway in hopes of finding another auto parts store.  Needle in a haystack comes to mind.

Ryan Tuerck of Retaks RacingRetaks Racing driver Ryan Tuerck beats 2011 FormulaD Champion Dai Yoshihara into the top 16. Ryan finished the race weekend 6th overall in points (of 60).  Some 20K+ fans attended & 32+ media brands covered the race.

After beating Dai & advancing into the Top 16 we were up against the current points leader Justin Pawlak to advance into the Great 8.  “This weekend went great.  I’m starting to really get comfortable in the new Retaks car, the team is working well together, and the Maxxis tires are getting us closer to that podium spot.  I can’t wait for Palm Beach!”- Ryan Tuerck

Green flag dropped with the #7 car starting in 7th finishing 5th and the #77 car starting 4th. finishing 7th.

Charlie Schultz #7 car finished 3rd opening night finishing tight and this race finishing 5th and loose.  So we are struggling a bit to find the right set up.  We are going to have to work harder to get this one figured out!

We welcome Matt Marlowe E-Mod Driver to the May Motorsports team piloting the #77 race car.  Matt’s debut was quite respectable and he began the day with three goals; don’t’ crash, don’t’ spin, and don’t get lapped and he accomplished all three.   Matt adjusted well running 3 seconds per lap faster from his usual E-Mod ride.

All in all to date, we have finished every and all laps.  The following is the “official” race recap.

Russell Morseman Racing UpdateWe've had great weather the last two weekends. Last week I started 6th in the feature and ended up finishing second by a foot or so. This weekend I started 4th in the heat and finished second. In the feature I started 6th again drove up to third but somehow got put back to 8th on the next restart which I still cannot figure out. I kept calm and drove back up through the field and finished third missing second by a foot or so. Car is fast we will get that win soon enough. I have some more little things to try to make it faster but it's definitely one of the fastest cars because I have passed the most cars of anyone so far this season.
