DEI Sponsored University of Wisconsin-Madison takes 3rd places at Formula SAE eventOn June 20th Wisconsin Racing joined approximately 85 other Formula SAE teams from 7 different countries in beautiful Lincoln, Nebraska. This is the first time that the FSAE West competition was held at Lincoln Airpark, in years past it was hosted by the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California. The move to Lincoln made perfect sense: not only was our drive shortened by 25 hours, but in 2009 the Sports Car Club of America relocated its Solo Nationals event to this same location. Lincoln Airpark is also home to monthly autocross events for the local SCCA members.  Over the next four hot and windy days, Wisconsin Racing and the WRS212 once again took on the competition, and had a great time as well.

After a mostly uneventful drive through the scenic rolling hills of Wisconsin and the seemingly endless cornfields of Iowa, the team rolled into Lincoln Airpark. Wisconsin Racing wa prepared to once again represent the state of Wisconsin, the University of Wisconsin - Madison, all of our family and friends, and most of all our sponsors who helped bring the WRS212 to life.  After a strong 10th place finish at the Michigan International Speedway in May, Wisconsin Racing hoped to further showcase the strengths of the WRS212, and compete for a win.

I hope you had a chance to read our competition recaps this summer.  We had another successful year. With two 1st place finishes in fuel economy, a 1st place business presentation, a few additional top ten finishes, we finished 10th overall at the Michigan competition and 3rd at Lincoln.  Currently the University of Wisconsin - Madison Formula SAE team is ranked 14th on the Formula Student world rankings out of 510 teams!

This year we are aggressively restructuring our timeline in order to allow more testing time on the new car and we have made a considerable amount of progress.  Earlier in the semester we finished the fabrication of our aerodynamics package.  About two weeks ago we began fabricating the WR-213 and we've already finished the rear half of the frame.  Our goal is to have our first drive before the end of the year.

The points for AHDRA have been posted and not only has Team Half Fast finished in the to 10 in all 3 classes we competed in this year, but we have also earned our first national number plate in the AHDRA!

We are very proud to announce that afer the AMRA finals in Bowling Green, Kentucky at the end of September, we finished:

#6 in PE Pro-Eliminator 10.90 Class
#5 in "E" (ET) Class
#7 in SE Street Eliminator 11.50 Class

And #9 in SEP 11.50 Class in the AHDRA

We attended 4 out of the 9 AHDRA races in 2012, and we missed the #8 position by ONE POINT to someone who attended 7 out of the 8 races. We're proud.

Ray LitzRay Litz of Koolrayz Racing was at the NMCA World Nationals at Indy 2 weeks ago where his car was on rails and qualified fifth in an LS Drag Radial class that ran the fastest field ever in this class. This is quite an accomplishment for Ray considering that his car was built around X275 rules, which mean that is car ran with a smaller turbo and smaller tires compared to the competition. Pretty mind-blowing if we do say so ourselves! The best pass of the day was 7.53 @ 190 mph.

This coming weekend (11/2) Ray will be at MIR for the Import vs. Domestic race.

Ray's car has been featured on LSXtv.com and TheBlock.com, to name a few. And check for coverage on Ray Litz in print in your favorite race magazine this coming winter.

For more on Ray at the NMCA World Nationals, check out his facebook page where he has posted more pictures and videos.
