Toledo, OH…Retirement hasn't slowed Amherst, Ohio's Bobby Dawson down one bit and his show of domination Friday night in the Midwest Supermodified Association presented by Town Money Saver 40 lap feature event at Toledo Speedway proves that some things do get better with age.

Starting from the pole, Dawson immediately jumped to the lead and never relinquished it for the entire race that went green to checkers without a caution and was over in just nine short minutes. "Louie who?" were the first words out of the mouth of the winner as a reference to the season long battle with Lou Cicconi, Jr. who is the only other driver to have won a feature event this year.

April 9-10, 2011.  Maus was unable to attend this event with Chip, but once again she was there in spirit as Chip represented the team in person.  With the rising fuel costs, THF did not think it would get to this event this year, but an opportunity came up to travel with good friend and fellow racer Erik Nelson with Shoestring Racing.  THANK YOU so much for that opportunity, Erik!

Saturday morning, it was already 77 degrees, so we knew it was going to be completely different than what we encountered in Bowling Green just two weeks prior.

Saturday—Time Trials:  Our first run out of the gate was an 11.457; a little tweaking, and our second run was a stellar 11.502—if we can repeat that in Qualifying, we’ll be sitting sharp!  Our next two time trials were to test out our 10.90 combination for the PE class.  We ran an 11.348 and 11.209.  Not bad considering by now it was already 80 degrees.  Our last time trial for the day was an 11.507.  We’re ready to qualify well!

Just wanted to give you a quick rundown of upcoming events:

Sunday, June 19, we have been invited by our sponsor, the Rust Belt Brewing Company, to be a featured display at a Father's Day cruise at Quaker Steak and Lube (Austintown, Ohio).  The event draws a large crowd of cars and families.  Last year the event had 1000s of people present with hundreds of show cars.  The event starts at 5:00 PM and will have media coverage.  If you would like more details, please let us know.

June 23-26 - the NHRA Summit Racing Equipment Nationals (Norwalk).  One of the largest NHRA national events of the season.  We would love to have you guys come up for a day or the whole weekend.  I believe we get one qualifying attempt on Thursday, two qualifying attempts on Friday (which should be the best day for you to come up), and the first two rounds of eliminations are Saturday.

It’s been awhile since our last post.  Thought it might be a good idea to check in with an update!  As you may know, we run for points in the Midwest Supermodified Association (MSA).  We are currently in 4th with our #7 piloted Charlie Schultz and 7th with our #77 piloted Tim Ice race cars.  Needless to say we are working real hard to improve upon those positions.

This past weekend we went to a new track on the MSA Schedule, South Bend Raceway and had a podium 3rd place finish with Charlie in the #7 car.  The following is a race recap.
