Speed Features

We hope this post finds you well and your summer enjoyable so far!

We raced at Lorain County Speedway this past Saturday (Lorain, OH).  Weather report was not too encouraging initially, but it ended up being a beautiful day for racing and that is exactly what we did!  Our two cars; #7 Charlie Schultz qualified 4th and #77 Tim Ice qualified 5th.  We started 7th and 8th and had one 3rd place podium finish with Tim Ice and Charlie placing 6th.  Unfortunately, Charlie got hit from behind, pushing him into another car which necessitated a quick pit stop causing him to go to tail.

Russ Morseman Racing #44We ran at Woodhull this past weekend, starting the night of by drawing 30 out of 35. We started last in the heat and finished 5th. Started 19th in the feature and got involved in a accident on the second lap. We went to the rear 24th and drove back up to 12th on lap 8 the two cars in front of me spun and I had nowhere to go and ended up getting in that wreck as well. I went pit side and had my crew look over the car and it bent my left front radius rods pretty bad but was still drivable. I went back out and drove up to and finished 8th, the car was by far the fastest one there, just had some bad luck I guess. We are racing at Blackrock this Friday again and can’t wait. The car has been bad fast the past few weeks.

Martino Motorsports - Columbus Wrap-UpThursday
Ryan made six passes in our DEI / Ny-Trex dragster to upgrade his NHRA + IHRA competition licenses to advanced e.t. status.  Special thanks to Chris Stilwell and the rest of the staff at National Trails Raceway for an excellent job of prepping the track for this test session.

We made our first qualifying pass for the event at 4:30 PM.  We faced probably the worst racing conditions we have ever encountered in over 40 years of racing.  Our Kestrel Weather Meter showed temperatures well over 100 degrees, a density altitude of 5000 ft, and over 150 water grains.  We were still able to get ahold of the track with the help of our Mickey Thompson Tires (www.mickeythompsontires.com) and run a 6.876 at 196.76 MPH to qualify us for the event...

Cole has hadTeam DEI member Cole Bodine with his 1st feature win a great season and finally got his first feature win in the Dirt Sprint Non-Wing class at US 24 Speedway on 7-23-11.  Cole has had several 2nd place finishes and many dash and heat wins, but it finally all came together for him last weekend winning the feature event aginst some of the best drivers. "Thanks so much for your support, he is by far the youngest driver '12 yrs old' in this adult class and we could not be as competitive as he has been without your help. I strongly feel that DEI Titanium exhaust wrap gives us that slight edge over the competition."

Thanks so much,
Kevin and Cole Bodine

Martino Motorsports - Norwalk Wrap-UpAfter battling rain (yet again) we were finally able to complete the NHRA Division 3 Lucas Oil Series Event at Summit Motorsports Park (Norwalk, OH) last weekend.  Although we fell short of an event win, we were able to rid our dragster of all its 2011 gremlins and lay down some strong numbers in the 1/4 mile with our small Ny-Trex Nitrous Oxide Systems tune-up.

Coming out of the event we are tied for the second best reaction time average in all of NHRA Top Dragster (special thanks to Nitro Joe’s Racing Stats for keeping us posted) and we are ready for a strong surge in the second half of the 2011 season with a combination that is going to be tough to beat.
