We are approaching our first race of the 2012 season this upcoming weekend at Lucas Oil Raceway (Indianapolis, IN), which means it’s time to get our Design Engineering Inc. blog fired back up and give fans an inside look of what’s in store for the big season ahead of Martino Motorsports.

Season Outlook

Martino MotorsportsAlthough we had an enjoyable off-season which included a trip to the 24th annual Performance Racing Industry Trade Show (PRI Show) in Orlando, Florida; a visit to Daytona Beach, Florida for an exclusive tour of Daytona International Speedway; being guests of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony; and a host of other memorable highlights which are referenced in our social media pages, the 2012 season is finally upon us.

For 2012, our plan is to compete in both the NHRA “Full Throttle” (www.nhra.com) and IHRA “Nitro Jam” (www.ihra.com) drag racing series in the fastest heads-up sportsman class on the planet, Top Dragster.   Our main focus of this season schedule will be to compete for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Top Dragster title, and earn a top seed in the IHRA's "Tournament of Champions" in the fall.  Our associates have supplied us the best products, tools, and support available in the racing industry, it’s up to us to make it happen.

DEI Sponsored Team Half FastWe're off and racing for the 2012 season, and we’re off to an awesome start!

Though the threat of rain was ever-present in the original weather forecast for the weekend, the March 31-April 1 AMRA event opener at the State Capital Raceway near Baton Rouge, Louisiana was a huge success!!  It rained Thursday night, and I think it rained late Friday night (I’m just not sure!), but the rest of the weekend was dry… okay, not "dry" – it was rather humid – but it didn't rain again for the rest of the weekend, and everyone was thankful!

30 "E" Class racers, 10 SE (11.50) racers, and 14 PE (10.90) showed up to race – that is not bad considering the sheer distance that many had to travel to get there, not to mention that this was an inaugural event.

DEI Sponsored Team Half FastIt was a race weekend, so of course it was, at some point, going to be raining. The rain plagued the racing all year long, so why should the last weekend of the season be any different?  After a rainy evening, we were greeted on Saturday morning with overcast skies with rain in the forecast yet again.

The AMRA had a fantastic turnout of racers for the finals’ weekend with full fields – a phenomenal 27 bikes were there for the 16-bike field of the SE (11.50) class, 19 for PE (10.90) and around 68 bikes for “E”!!
