NHRA Jeg's Super Quick Series at Xenia, OH

Martino at Jeg's Super Quick SeriesJuly 19, 2010 --

We are just getting back from the NHRA Jeg's Super Quick Series event at Kil-Kare Raceway in Xenia, Ohio. This is a unique event to participate in for many reasons. It's an indexed 1/8th mile event. They qualify 32 dragsters closest to a 4.50 seconds index (similar to the "Price is Right" theory, anything faster than 4.50 seconds doesn't count). We went with our reliable .33 / .36 Ny-Trex Nitrous Oxide Systems tune-up for the event. We ended up qualifying 11th after our first qualifying session with a 4.603 in the right lane and came back for the second session in the other lane and ran a 4.597. The .33 / .36 tune-up is deadly consistent no matter what the weather conditions are and regardless of what track we are running on. We ran our nitrous timers on at .20 seconds into the run for 2.25 seconds. In eliminations we lost another close one, this time by .001 seconds (less than three inches) at the finish line. If you thought the .005 second loss from the Norwalk nationals was a close race, this one was 1/5 of that loss margin. We are so close to winning one for our friends at DEI, Ny-Trex, and the rest of our associates. A great place to accomplish that feat will be this upcoming week at the NHRA Lucas Oil Series event at National Trails Raceway, Columbus, Ohio (one of our last stops in Ohio for the season).

On a side note from the NHRA Jeg's Super Quick Series event at Kil-Kare Raceway, we got the chance to watch our fellow DEI teammates, Charlie Schultz and Tim Ice compete live in Midwest Supermodified action at Kil-Kare’s circle track Friday night before our event on Saturday.  We cheered on team DEI as Tim Ice brought home a second place finish.  Tim and Charlie run a first class operation and are definitely a large threat and great competitors in the Midwest Supermodified Association series.  We wish them the best of luck as they battle for the 2010 championship.
